G3A3 - assault rifle

The Heckler & Koch Gewehr 3 (G3) is a development of the StG. 45 and was introduced 1959 to the Bundeswehr. The G3 is very known for its reliability and is used till now in many offical forces. The recoil operated gun was firstly equipped with wooden parts. The version A1 got a foldable notch for different distances. In version A2 a revolable notch was used. Until today the version A3 is still in use in the Bundeswehr with plastic parts and an overworked buttstock. But also the A4 version with retractable buttstock is used for air forces. Although the G3 is slowly replaced by the G36 since the 90s it is the successfulst infantryweapon whose performance is unrivaled til today.
